This resort is open to tourists year-round, but the optimal time to visit is the dry season, which lasts from November to April.
Acapulco Attractions
The Art Nouveau Cathedral, the Chapel of Peace with its Spanish-era castle, rising next to a 42-meter cross used to bless sailors, the Archaeology Museum with a rich collection of Native American artifacts, the Papagayo National Park with three artificial lakes and a water park, and the San Diego Fortress, built in the early 17th century and now serving as a history museum—all are worthy of attention. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a glass-bottomed boat ride to Roqueta Island, where you can admire the underwater world and the Virgin of Guadalupe statue perched on the ocean floor.
When the sun sets, Acapulco comes alive, offering a variety of nightlife. Nightclubs and bars fill with people, pulsating to the rhythm of dance. Acapulco’s discos are considered the best in the country, thanks to excellent DJs, stunning bands, renowned soloists, light shows, and fireworks. You can dance until the early hours or relax in piano bars with more relaxed music.
Gourmets can enjoy dinner at rooftop restaurants, on a “pirate ship,” on a cape, or on the nearby mountains and islands. Acapulco also offers plenty of entertainment for children: a historical museum in the seaport, a water amusement park, a zoo on Roqueta Island, and the enormous Mundo Marino aquarium. A special spectacle in Acapulco is the dizzying cliff jump in La Quebrada Bay, which reaches a height of 34 meters. The history of this attraction began in 1932, when Rigoberto Arach leaped from the cliff into the artificial crevice of La Quebrada. This feat brought him instant fame and inspired many followers. The El Mirador Hotel was built near the cliff, and tourists have been enjoying these thrilling mini-spectacles ever since.
