Two key symbols of Phuket City are the Promthep Clock Tower and the Golden Dragon Statue, located in Queen Sikirit Park. The city is known for its many beautiful Chinese temples, as a significant portion of the local population is Chinese. The oldest of these, the Taoist temple of Pud Jor, was built in the 19th century.

The capital’s most popular tourist street is Soi Rommanee. Every building on this street is a historical and architectural monument. Here you will find cozy cafes and souvenir shops, and in the evening, the street is illuminated by colorful paper lanterns, creating the perfect setting for a romantic stroll. The Chinpracha family mansion, built in the 19th century on Krabi Road, is shrouded in many legends. Scenes for several Hollywood films, including Oliver Stone’s “Heaven and Earth” and “The Adventures of Indiana Jones,” were filmed here. The mansion now houses a culinary arts school, where tourists can take Thai cooking master classes.

Promthep Cape is a must-see for lovers and romantics. This natural viewpoint, located 30 km from Phuket City, is famous for its stunning sunsets, considered among the most beautiful in the world. Locals believe the cape is sacred, and the gods protect it from tsunamis.

The key event of the year is the Vegetarian Festival, held in the ninth lunar month (usually in late September or early October). This massive Asian celebration, featuring costumed processions, street dancing, music and fire shows, lasts for nine days.
