Maribor Pohorje is the largest ski resort in Slovenia

Maribor Pohorje is Slovenia’s largest and most popular ski resort, located just 17 kilometers from the Austrian border. Although its peaks are lower than the Tatra Mountains, the highest ones reach 1,543 meters and belong to the Alpine system. Despite its relatively modest altitude, this resort consistently attracts winter sports enthusiasts, such as cross-country skiing, mountain biking, sledding, snowboarding, and other outdoor activities.

Most tourists visit the resort during the winter season, but Maribor Pohorje remains popular in the summer thanks to its picturesque natural setting, diverse wellness centers, and a variety of activities, including roller coasters and the cultural attractions of nearby Maribor, just 6 kilometers away.

Maribor Pohorje Ski Area
The Maribor Pohorje resort is divided into three zones: the lower part, “Snow Steadiam” (elevation 325 m – 1050 m), the middle part, “Bolfenk” (937 m – 1150 m), and the upper part, “Areh” (927 m – 1327 m). All three are connected by a network of ski lifts. A multi-ski pass is available, valid not only for Maribor Pohorje but also for other well-known resorts such as Kranjska Gora, Kope, and Ribniško Pohorje.

The total length of Maribor Pohorje’s ski slopes is 43 km, with 27 km of cross-country ski trails. The ski season runs from December to April. The resort offers trails for skiers of all levels: 23.5 km for beginners, 13 km of intermediate trails, and 5 km of challenging trails. The lifts have a capacity of over 22,000 people per hour.

Snow cannons are used to maintain stable snow conditions, ensuring skiing 100 days a year. Ski slopes start right next to the hotels, making your stay as comfortable as possible.

A special feature of the Maribor Pohorje region is the longest illuminated ski slope in Europe—4.5 km—which annually hosts the Golden Fox Women’s World Cup.
