What to see and do in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the ninth-largest city in France by population. There’s plenty to do and see here; Bordeaux exudes an atmosphere of classical forms.

The first documented settlements on the site of the city appeared as early as the 3rd century BC, when the Celts roamed the shores of what is now France. Throughout history, Bordeaux has been subjected to numerous serious attacks, sacked, and ceded to the English monarchy, but none of this prevented Bordeaux from becoming one of the most beautiful cities in France.

Bordeaux is located in southwestern France, near the Bay of Biscay, which is part of the Atlantic Ocean. Bordeaux has a population of approximately 240,000, although the metropolitan area itself is quite large.
