Edmonton Attractions

Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1795, the city became an outpost for the development of northern and western Canada. Today, Edmonton is a major commercial, industrial, and cultural center of the country.

Edmonton Attractions and Entertainment
The city’s main landmark, the Alberta Legislature, is a beautiful colonial-style building built in 1911, after Edmonton was elected the provincial capital. It features a swimming pool in the summer, an ice rink in the winter, and free tours.

The Royal Alberta Museum features exhibits featuring unique works by Canadian artists and sculptors, as well as artifacts from Aboriginal culture. At World of Science, a large science museum, in addition to viewing exhibits, you can visit a planetarium and an IMAX theater.

The Muttart Conservatory features four enormous glass pyramids, each representing three climate zones and four seasons. At Fort Edmonton Park, a living history museum, you can join costumed performances that explore Canadian life and history. At Elk Island National Park of Canada, located near Edmonton, you can see Canadian wildlife in their natural habitat, go canoeing, skiing, or golfing.

Events
Edmonton hosts more than 30 festivals each year. The International Fringe Theatre Festival attracts over half a million visitors. And at the Whyte Ave Artwalk, you can see the works of local sculptors and artists.

Symphony Under the Sky and Edmonton Folk Music festivals offer great outdoor music.
