Terracina – Odysseus’ Coast

Terracina is the main resort of the Riviera di Ulisse. A promenade lined with restaurants, nightclubs, discos, bars, and shops stretches along the bay. The resort is renowned for its 15 km of beautiful, well-equipped sandy beaches.

Beaches
Terracina boasts stunning sandy beaches, picturesque coves, and entertainment for every taste and budget.

The beaches offer a wide range of water sports, as well as the opportunity to admire underwater life, both during the day and after sunset. The resort also organizes trips to the nearby Miami Beach water park.

Terracina Attractions
At the entrance to the old town stands the Porta Napoli, and the Appian Way, passing through it, leads you to the central square, the Forum Emiliana. The square still contains the ruins of majestic temples and a theater from the Roman Empire. Nearby are cathedrals and medieval buildings.

The Cathedral of San Cesare, patron saint of Terracina, is also located in the central square. Its floor features an ancient mosaic dating back to the 5th century. Furthermore, the cathedral boasts a statue of Zeus and part of a marble monument to Trajan.

On one of the hills by the seashore stands an ancient sanctuary to the supreme Roman god, Jupiter, built in the 4th century BC.

Right on the Appian Way stands the 13th-century Castello Venditti. Nearby is the Bishop’s Palace and the ancient Rose Tower.

Overall, Terracina is one of the most interesting towns on the entire Riviera de’ Ulisse. It is perfect for leisurely strolls along the quiet streets of the old quarter or the picturesque hills.

The best time to visit is in July, when the city celebrates the Festival of the Sea, or on City Day.
