The fifth largest city in Norway has a large number of attractions. The beautiful historical quarter of Posebyen is located at the confluence of the Otra River with the Byfjord. A large number of small galleries and craftsman’s benches attract attention here, as well as old toy houses. There are many yacht clubs and yacht harbors near the Christiansholm fortress.
Sights of Kristiansand
Quadraturen
The townspeople nicknamed the city center so because it is geometrically shaped. The city was founded by the Danish king Christian IV. Most of the houses are built in the Renaissance style.
Market square
Market Square is located in the heart of Kristiansand. The architectural dominant of the square is the neo-Gothic cathedral of the 19th century, built on the site of the second cathedral, which burned down in a fire. The main decoration is the altar composition “Christ in Emmaus”.
Monument to the poet Henrik Vergelann
The monument to Henrik Vergelann (1808-1845) is located next to the cathedral. Henrik Vergelann is the most famous native of the city.
Ravnedalen Park
Ravnedalen Nature Park is located northwest of the center. Be sure to climb the two hundred steps to the observation deck, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the city, the sea and small islands. The park has many small lakes where swimming is allowed, wonderful paths and a small cafe.

The Vest-Agder open-air ethnographic museum is located 4 km east of the city. The museum presents forty old buildings and organizes temporary exhibitions.

City Hall
The town hall is a massive four-story building near the port. It was built by the rich shipowner Kallevig in 1815 for his household.

Cape Lindesnes
Cape Lindesnes is the southernmost mainland point of Norway. Here, in 1655, the first lighthouse in the country was established.
