Mykonos is a trendy, bohemian resort with beautiful scenery. It is considered one of the most expensive Greek islands. The local landscape features windmills, rocky hills, numerous churches, whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and an azure sea.
Mykonos Beaches
The island has numerous sandy beaches. The most popular are Platis Gialos, with its variety of watersports, and Psarou, with its scuba diving center.
Super Paradise and Paradise
Super Paradise and Paradise are popular nudist beaches. They are home to the famous Cavo Paradiso nightclub, which hosts some of the best open-air techno parties.
These are among the most popular beaches on the island, primarily frequented by young people. MTV screens are located right on the shore, music plays 24/7, and at night, the entire beach becomes one giant disco.
Paranga
Paranga is another beach popular with young people. It is divided into two parts: the southern, quieter part, and the northern, more crowded and well-maintained part.
Platis Gialos and Psarou
Platis Gialos is a resort with several hotel complexes and a long beach. Nearby is the picturesque, narrow sandy beach of Psarou, popular with celebrities from around the world.
Agrari and Elia
Agrari is a resort for those seeking a quieter getaway with a wide sandy beach. It is less popular and crowded than neighboring Elia, but quieter. Most locals consider Elia, surrounded by cliffs, to be the best beach on the island.
Ornos
Ornos is located closest to the island’s capital and is often visited by many families. There are windsurfing, diving, and water skiing centers, cafes, and restaurants. Ornos also has a beautiful, sheltered sandy beach. Kalafati and Lia
For active vacationers, Kalafati Beach is a great choice. Equipment rentals for water sports, windsurfing, and diving are available here. Nearby is the tranquil, 200-meter-long Lia Beach.
