Zalakaros Spa

Zalakaros is a small spa resort near Lake Balaton. The composition and quantity of its medicinal water have made the Zalakaros Spa one of the most significant in Hungary. The local water is classified as an alkaline-chloride hydrocarbonate, and also contains bromine, iodine, hydrogen sulfide, and fluorine. This composition, combined with radioactive substances, is very rare, and nothing comparable exists anywhere else in Europe.

Treatment in Zalakaros
The Granit Spa offers a large number of indoor and outdoor pools: therapeutic pools with water temperatures ranging from 32°C to 36°C, thermal pools with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 33°C, a pool with special effects, a children’s pool, a wave pool, a sports pool, and a pool with hydromassage.

Indications for treatment: chronic inflammatory joint diseases, joint diseases of the extremities and spine, mild rheumatism, rehabilitation after accidents, skeletal diseases, as well as orthopedic and neuralgic diseases, musculoskeletal diseases, muscle atrophy, chronic inflammatory gynecological diseases, skin diseases, and metabolic disorders.

Contraindications: severe vascular and cardiac diseases, acute inflammatory diseases, malignant tumors, pregnancy, and high fever.

Attractions in Zalakaros
Between the towns of Zalakaros and Galambók lies the Behiák steppe, home to a zoo and horse riding school. You can also take a walk to the steppe chapel, which is located in the buffalo sanctuary and part of the Balaton National Park. The town of Zala also boasts many historical sites.
