Mallorca with Children: Where, When, and Why

The island boasts an abundance of theme parks, sports grounds, nature reserves, and aquariums brimming with exotic creatures.

When to Go
The first travelers begin visiting Mallorca in mid-May: theme and nature parks are already open, and warm pools will replace the still-chilly sea. However, the best time to visit the island with children is late June or early September. At this time, there are still plenty of activities, the sea is warm, and it’s no longer too hot.

The classic peak season is July-August. During this time, it’s best to choose the north of Mallorca, where the breeze makes the heat more bearable.

Where to Swim
Almost a third of Mallorca’s hotels are located on the beachfront and have their own private beach, so the rest of the vacationers will have to use public beach areas. However, all of them have excellent infrastructure: showers, restrooms, cafes, clean sand, a warm turquoise sea, and a gently sloping entrance.

The beaches of northern Alcudia are very beautiful, but they are often windy and swell. The southwestern beaches of Santa Ponsa, Playa de Palma, and Magaluf offer kilometers of sand and the most developed infrastructure. Cala Mesquida in the northeast and Cala Mandia in the east promise seclusion, with numerous picturesque wooded coves.

Where to go
The island offers many places to relax with children. The capital is home to one of the largest aquariums in Europe and the Galatzó Natural Park with a mini-zoo. Magaluf boasts the exciting Katmandu amusement park and one of the largest water parks, Western Water Park.

Near Portals Nous is the Marineland dolphinarium. A little further west, in Santa Ponsa, is the rope park Jungle Park Mallorca.
