Main Resorts of the Balearic Islands

The Balearic archipelago is an autonomous region of Spain comprising 17 islands, including Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. Numerous smaller islets also form part of the archipelago. The total area of the Balearic Islands is just over 5,000 square kilometers, with a coastline of 1,239 kilometers.

Entertainment and Attractions
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands. Its capital, Palma de Mallorca, boasts architectural monuments of various styles and eras. Particularly noteworthy are the Cathedral and Bellver Castle, built in the 13th century.

Mallorca’s main attraction is the Caves of the Dragons, located in the east of the island near Porto Cristo. These stalactite caves are stunning in their incredible beauty. One of the largest underground lakes in the world, Lake Martel, is also located here. It is 177 meters long, 40 meters wide, and up to 8 meters deep. The island of Menorca is a unique destination, with its capital, Mahón. It boasts numerous architectural monuments, easily accessible by foot. Mahón resembles a veritable museum, as all these monuments are located in close proximity to one another.

Ibiza is the third largest island in the Balearic Islands. All towns, including the island’s capital, Ibiza City, are located along the coast. It’s also worth taking a boat trip along Ibiza’s southeastern coast to enjoy the beautiful white-sand beaches and reach the neighboring island of Espalamador. A glass-bottom catamaran cruise will allow you to admire the underwater world and its inhabitants.

Finally, from Ibiza, you can take a trip to Formentera, the jewel of the Balearic Islands. With the exception of two small rocky capes, La Mola and Cap de Barbaria, the island is almost entirely flat and ideal for a secluded getaway. The only inhabited place is Sant Frances de Fomentera, which resembles a tourist village more than a town.
