Spain’s Costa Brava Coast

The Costa Brava is a stunning stretch of the Catalan coastline, located near the border with France. This unique location, one of the most picturesque on the entire Mediterranean coast, combines beautiful beach resorts with areas for active recreation and tourism.

Costa Brava Beaches
Choosing the perfect beach for sunbathing on the Costa Brava is a matter of mood. This coastline delights visitors with a variety of options: long and small, sandy and rocky, lively and wild. Each has its own advantages. Many beaches here have been awarded the Blue Flag, symbolizing the area’s environmental friendliness.

One of the most attractive beaches, according to tourists, is Aiguablava, located near the town of Begur. This sandy beach in a cozy bay is ideal for families with children thanks to its gently sloping entrance and calm weather. Another of the best and most beautiful beaches is Es Castell, in the municipality of Palamós.

Famous beaches in Tossa de Mar include Playa des Codolar and Mar Menuda. Playa Gran is adorned with a fortress located right on the shore, but be aware that the seabed here is rocky.

Entertainment and Attractions
Here you can see ancient ruins and castles dating back to the Middle Ages, as well as churches and chapels.

The largest and most popular resort in the region is Lloret de Mar. In this “city of laurel trees,” tourists can see the ruins of the Castel Sant Joan, which served as a defensive fortress in the 11th century. Today, it houses a museum telling its history.

Castle d’en Plaja, towering over the coast, is not accessible to visitors as it is privately owned. However, this does not deter the flow of tourists who admire the magnificent views from the path that runs alongside the castle along the rocky coast.

The Gardens of Santa Clotilde, with their vertical, symmetrical compositions, impress even the most incorruptible observer. The Church of San Roma also attracts attention with its impressive exterior. The Modernist cemetery located here is a veritable open-air museum.
