Queensland is one of six states in Australia. Tourists associate this region with some of the continent’s most popular attractions, including the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree National Park.
Queensland Attractions and Activities
Queensland, renowned for its incredible natural beauty, offers numerous opportunities for travelers, one of which is whale watching. During the winter months, numerous spots along the Queensland coast allow you to observe this spectacle with the naked eye, but a whale watching boat tour offers the most memorable experience.
Wildlife enthusiasts also have the opportunity to interact with sea turtles. From October to March, turtles of several species lay eggs along the coast from Bundaberg to Cape. A similar process occurs on the islands of the southern Barrier Reef. If you’re lucky, you can witness dozens or hundreds of baby turtles hatching and heading out to sea. Mossman Gorge, located in Daintree National Park, is one of the most captivating attractions. Surrounded by fig trees, the crystal-clear Mossman River cascades through a granite bed. This area is also home to a variety of fascinating animals, such as the colorful Boyd’s forest dragon, eastern yellow robins, and Ulysses butterflies.
Another interesting attraction is Wallaman Falls National Park, part of a larger tropical rainforest area. It is home to Australia’s tallest single-cascade waterfall, which never dries up.
In the Tambourine Mountains, Cedar Creek is home to the Glowworm Caves, two large chambers connected by tunnels. Various bizarre geological formations, as well as stalactites and stalagmites, can also be seen here. The Undara Lava Tubes, located a 3.5-hour drive from Cairns, are among the longest and best-preserved lava tubes in the world. The Undara region is renowned for its unspoiled wilderness. The local Atherton Tablelands are an area of beautiful lakes and waterfalls, fertile red soil, and tropical forests. The climate is cool and the air is fresh, thanks to the local fields’ famed peanut and maize crops.
