Ski Resorts in Austria

Few countries are as closely associated with skiing as Austria. Here you’ll find numerous winter resorts with excellent infrastructure, a variety of quality slopes, and the opportunity to ski for a record number of months each year.

There are many advantages to a winter holiday in Austria, but let’s start with the most important factor for any skier: the variety and quality of slope maintenance. Austria offers numerous resorts in the Tyrol region, which can safely be called the unofficial capital of ski tourism, and each one boasts a variety of slopes. There’s something for everyone: from gentle slopes for beginners to steep ones for experienced skiers, from easy-to-ride runs to more technical ones.

Slopes in Austria are always in excellent condition – even the slightest unevenness is immediately smoothed out, leaving the piste surface perfectly smooth. Snow cover is also constantly monitored – snow cannons are ready to spring into action when needed. And don’t worry about snow cover – Austria’s Alpine region is rich in glaciers, keeping the slopes covered from November to April.

One of the perks of a winter holiday in Austria is the extensive ski areas connected by a common ski pass. For example, in the picturesque Zillertal Valley, you can explore without additional costs by purchasing a “ski pass” for five resorts offering over 668 km of slopes for skiers of all levels. At around €287 per week, this ski pass is affordable and allows for a varied skiing experience.

Tyrol is traditionally considered the best region for skiing, encompassing areas such as Innsbruck, Ranger Kämpfl, Patscherkofel, Hungerburg-Seegrube, Glusenger, and Mutterer Alm, as well as the Zillertal Valley and the resort of Seefeld. No less interesting options for a ski holiday are the resorts in the state of Salzburg, such as Zell am See, Kaprun and Saalbach-Hinterglemm, which offer a variety of slopes and well-developed tourist infrastructure.
