Albufeira is one of Portugal’s most popular resorts

Surrounded by picturesque beaches, pine forests, and orange groves, Albufeira attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. Albufeira boasts numerous restaurants, boutiques, clubs, and discos. Water sports enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy here, including sailing, windsurfing, and diving, as well as more casual activities like jet skiing and water skiing.

Albufeira Beaches
Albufeira’s beaches are a source of pride for locals. They are numerous, varied, and each unique. Three sandy beaches can be found within the city limits: Peneco, Pescadores, and Inatel.

Peneco is the most popular beach, located in the historic district. It is known as the “tunnel” beach, as it is only accessible through a tunnel between the rocks that opens onto a terrace. This spacious beach has excellent infrastructure and magnificent sand. Near Peneco is Pescadores, or “Fishermen’s Beach.” In addition to everything necessary for a wonderful vacation, you can see numerous fishing boats and vessels here.

The third beach, Inatel, is located in a small cove between the cliffs and the complex of the same name. It is ideal for those who prefer privacy and smaller spaces.

Albufeira Attractions and Activities
If after a few days on the beach you’re looking for a cultural experience, there’s plenty to see here too. The historic part of the city is built in a uniform Moorish style. A reminder of the Arab influence is the Moorish arch on the Travessa da Igreja Velha—all that remains of an ancient mosque. Albufeira also boasts a small museum and a city art gallery, which regularly hosts exhibitions. There’s also a new virtual archaeological museum and a new marina with entertainment options for every taste and budget. 15 km from the resort is the village of Paderne, famous for its 12th-century fortress, Castelo de Almoada, which is free to enter. Nearby is the Zoo Marin park, a mini-zoo and attractions featuring shows featuring dolphins, seals, and wild birds.
