Benidorm is a city with two huge beaches, impressive skyscrapers, bright lights, numerous restaurants, hotels, and theme parks.
Benidorm Beaches
Benidorm’s beaches are renowned as some of the best on the entire Mediterranean coast, and the warm water temperatures make swimming enjoyable almost year-round. The most popular beach is Levante Beach. This beach is a 2-kilometer strip of fine golden sand extending east from the Old Town.
Poniente Beach is the longest and quietest spot. It sees fewer foreign tourists, but more Spanish tourists. It extends 3 kilometers west of Levante Beach. Both main beaches are equipped with walkways, children’s and sports areas, and water sports. The beaches are always staffed by medical personnel and lifeguards, and there are numerous bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Entertainment and Attractions
Benidorm is divided into an old and a new part. Strolling through the historic part of Benidorm, tourists are immersed in the atmosphere of 17th-19th-century Spain with its narrow streets. In this part of the city and its surroundings, you can visit such landmarks as the Church of San Jaume, the ancient Iberian settlement of Tossal de Cala, the “Balcony of the Mediterranean” – a viewpoint located on the cliff dividing the Levante and Poniente beaches, and the ruins of the 16th-century Torre Morales-Escaletes watchtower.
The new part of Benidorm is a typical modern city with high-rise buildings, business centers, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and numerous fashionable stores and restaurants.
Benidorm is home to the tallest building in Spain, the Gran Bali, at 210 meters. The surrounding 20-30-story buildings seem dwarfed by it. At the top of the hotel there is an observation deck with a magnificent view.
