Chania – the most beautiful city in Crete

In the western part of Crete lies the Greek port city of Chania. Its Venetian harbor is considered the most picturesque in all of Greece, and its old town is the most beautiful on the island.

Here you’ll find a large number of colorful shops and taverns, where Turkish heritage blends with Greek, Byzantine, and Venetian influences. The beaches in Chania Bay are no less attractive than the more popular ones in central Crete.

Main Resorts and Beaches
The most popular resorts in the area are the villages of Georgioupolis, Platania, and Kavros.

Chania is famous for its kilometers of beautiful beaches, the most popular of which is located near Elafonissi, in the western part of the island. Nowhere else in Crete can you find such stunning pink sand as here.

Falassarna also has a very good beach: clean, uncrowded, and sandy. Sandy beaches are generally characteristic of the northern part of the region. In the south, on the Libyan Sea, there are predominantly pebble beaches.

All beaches offer a wide range of activities: paragliding, catamarans, water skiing, and scuba diving. Chania is ideal for a family holiday, with gently sloping seas and numerous bays where there are virtually no waves.

Chania Attractions and Attractions
The main city of the region, Chania is very picturesque. It boasts well-preserved remains of fortifications, an old town, a cathedral, a lighthouse, and an old port, as well as museums with interesting and rich collections—making Chania a versatile resort where you can not only relax but also enjoy educational excursions.
