Holidays in Cavtat

Cavtat is a small town in Croatia and one of its most famous resorts. It attracts tourists with its picturesque nature, blooming gardens, mild Mediterranean climate, colorful architecture, calming atmosphere, and sandy beaches, rare in Croatia.

Calling Card
Cavtat is located in the southernmost part of Croatia’s Adriatic coast, 20 km from Dubrovnik. The resort stretches across two wooded peninsulas – Rat and Sustjepan – in a beautiful bay with a surprising combination of a modern tourist center and a quiet ancient town.

What to see, where to go
Cavtat will appeal to lovers of antiquity. The largest number of ancient amphorae in the entire Mediterranean have been found in the sea near the town. Its architecture bears the legacy of all past eras. Cavtat’s streets feature buildings dating back to the Gothic, Renaissance, Classical, and Baroque periods. Cavtat boasts numerous attractions. A centuries-old staircase runs almost the entire length of the town. At the top of the largest hill stands the Račić Mausoleum, a magnificent structure built on the site of the ancient Temple of Asclepius and the Roman Forum. On the Cavtat waterfront is the 16th-century Rector’s Palace, home to a rich collection of antiquities, including collections of ancient graphic art, coins, rare books, weapons, and 16th-century paintings.

Cavtat is also home to the beautiful Baroque Church of St. Nicholas, decorated with works by Vlaho Bukovac, the Franciscan Monastery with its unique Renaissance courtyard, and the unique Church of the Virgin of the Snow, dating back to the 5th century.

Beaches
In addition to pebble and platform beaches, Cavtat also has sandy beaches, atypical for Croatia. Many local beaches have been awarded the UNESCO Blue Flag. Pine forests and cypress groves border the coastline almost everywhere.
Cavtat’s beaches offer a variety of water activities: beach volleyball, diving, banana boat rides, water skiing, yachting, and more.

Entertainment and Active Leisure
Cavtat is a quiet and romantic town with a relaxed pace of life. It has everything you need for a comfortable and varied vacation. Restaurants serving national and international cuisine, bars, beautiful gardens and parks, shops, and even a casino are scattered throughout the resort.

A favorite pastime for tourists is strolling along the promenade, the narrow streets of the Old Town, or the pedestrian paths that lead along the mountain slopes and the coast.

For those who enjoy active recreation, Cavtat offers bike rentals, tennis clubs, and paintball clubs. The Prevlaka amusement park is located 20 km from the town.
