Italy’s Adriatic Coast – Abruzzo

The hill top town of Castle del Monte in Abruzzo, Italy

One-third of Abruzzo is covered by national parks and nature reserves. This offers the opportunity to breathe the purest air, admire the diverse landscapes, unique nature, beautiful lakes, waterfalls, mountains, and rich flora and fauna. The region also produces the finest olives and grapes.

Main Resorts of Abruzzo
The southern part of the coast, from Ortona to Vasto, is rockier and covered with dense Mediterranean vegetation, but even there, the beaches offer everything you need.

Vasto is ideal for lovers of active tourism. The fine sand of the wide beaches, crystal-clear water, stunning nature, and proximity to the Apennine Mountains create a unique microclimate and ideal conditions for recreation for people of all ages.

Montesilvano, a small town located along the coast, is the most popular and well-known resort in Abruzzo. It’s ideal for family vacations and those who prefer a more relaxed holiday.

Pineto is the most fashionable resort in Abruzzo, with modern infrastructure and luxury hotels. Nearby is the beautiful town of Atri, known for its ancient history and famous temple.

The resort of Silvi Marina, one of the most beautiful in the entire country, is located at the foot of Mount Gran Sasso, near the Abruzzo National Park. It boasts numerous architectural monuments, warm seas, and bright sunshine.

Abruzzo Beaches
Abruzzo stretches along 240 km of the Adriatic coastline, 129 km of which are wide, sandy beaches. All beaches are kept immaculately clean and equipped with bars, discos, cafes, and rental shops for scuba diving and sports equipment.

From late July to early September, the beaches are crowded, as foreign tourists are joined by crowds of local vacationers.
