Garda Resorts
Desenzano del Garda is a picturesque town located on the southeastern shore of Lake Garda, renowned for its cheerful atmosphere.
The next resort is Sirmione, which occupies a peninsula, and its Castello Scaligero fortress, once a military stronghold for the Veronese fleet, rivals in beauty the Grotto of Catullus, a unique ancient Roman mansion. Also noteworthy in Sirmione are the churches of San Pietro in Mavino, decorated with frescoes from the 12th to 16th centuries, and Santa Maria Maggiore, home to a complex of 15th-century frescoes. Sigurta Park is a major botanical park with rare plant and flower species, and Movieland is a park featuring characters from famous films.
In Bardolino, the main pleasure is sipping local wine on the waterfront, enjoying the sea breeze and the sunset. Also worth visiting are the Romanesque Church of San Zeno and the Church of San Severo.
