Malmö’s historic center is small and cozy, centered around squares such as Stora Torget, Lilla Torji, Gustaf Adolf, and David Hall. The Västra Hamnen district is home to the city’s main landmark, the 190-meter Törning Torso skyscraper, designed by the renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. This area offers stunning views of the Öresund Bridge and the Danish coastline.
Malmö is famous for its green spaces, including Slottsparken, opened in 1900, and the older Kungsparken, which boasts a rich history. Pildammsparken is a popular spot for strolls and picnics, with stunning features such as the Queen Silvia Rose Garden, the Garden of the Senses, and Crown Princess Margaretha’s Flower Avenue. Trädgårdspaletten in the Kulladal district features a tropical greenhouse with ponds home to turtles, parrots, and other tropical birds.
Malmö’s nightlife continues late into the night, and in the summer, Lilla Torj Square transforms into a huge open-air party. The most popular clubs are Bodoni, Slakthuset, Centiliter & gram, and Classic Etage.
Malmö is a city of art, home to several world-class museums. Malmöhus Palace houses the city’s main museums, including the Art Museum, the City Museum, and the Natural History Museum. The joint “Malmö Museums” network also includes the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Science and Technology.
