Menton – a garden city

Menton is the westernmost resort on the Côte d’Azur, located between Monaco and the Italian Riviera. Today, Menton is an amphitheater descending to the sea, a picturesque and quiet seaside town with the traditions and flavor of two distinct European cultures.

Menton impresses with its unique Italian cheerfulness and French elegance. Pastel and terracotta-hued buildings predominate here, while the center boasts Baroque cathedrals and palaces, Italian houses with dark yellow facades, manicured parks, citrus and olive groves, and picturesque promenades.

This last town before the Italian border is famous for its casino and music festival. In February, it hosts the vibrant “Festival of Lemons” with parades and carnivals. Menton is the only place in Europe where, thanks to its exceptionally mild microclimate, lemon trees bear fruit year-round.

The most popular destination is the traditional Old Town. Winding streets lead you to the bustling center, home to numerous small shops and boutiques, artist studios, and small markets. The city also boasts numerous entertainment venues, including casinos, restaurants, and nightclubs.

Menton Beaches
Menton has many magnificent beaches, both sandy and pebble. All local beaches are clean and well-maintained, and each one has showers.

Cuisine and Restaurants
Menton’s proximity to Italy plays a role in the local cuisine. Here you can always find a quick and delicious meal. The Old Town boasts numerous cozy little bistros, the best of which is Le Chaudron. They offer traditional cuisine, including seafood, grilled fish, and delicious desserts. Brailade Meridionale offers southern cuisine: ravioli with boiled vegetables, and stewed beef alla Nizza.
