Phi Phi – a resort with white beaches

The Phi Phi archipelago comprises six islands, the most famous of which are Phi Phi Leh in the south and Phi Phi Don in the north. When people talk about vacationing on Phi Phi, they usually mean Phi Phi Don—the only inhabited island with a developed infrastructure, including hotels, cafes, and restaurants.

Phi Phi Beaches
While you can find a beach suitable for swimming on any island in the Phi Phi archipelago, Phi Phi Don has the most. Almost the entire coastline of this island is covered in soft white sand, and the clear, warm sea makes it ideal for relaxation.

On Phi Phi Don, umbrellas, sun loungers, and showers are only found on a few beaches—Long Beach, Laem Thong, and Loh Ba Khao.

The most popular and lively beaches are Long Beach, Tonsai Bay, and Loh Da Lam. Long Beach is quiet and peaceful, ideal for families with children, although the water entry is steep and the shore is deep. Tonsai Bay and Loh Dalam are located on either side of a long sandbar. Loh Dalam is known for its all-night parties, where music plays until the early hours. The entry into the water at these beaches is gentle, the sea is shallow, and Loh Dalam never has waves. The only drawback is that swimming is not possible during low tide.

Monkey Beach and Nui Beach are accessible only by boat. Monkey Beach is famous for its monkey inhabitants, which attract many tourists. Nui Beach is a small and secluded beach, hidden among the rocks, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.

Phi Phi Activities and Attractions
Phi Phi offers tourists a variety of activities, including deep-sea fishing for mackerel and barracuda, as well as day trips to other islands, including kayaking. Active travelers can enjoy hiking trails through hills, jungles, and mountainous terrain.

Fans of Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio will enjoy Maya Bay Beach on Phi Phi Leh Island, where the famous film “The Beach” was filmed.

One of the most popular natural attractions is the Viking Cave on Phi Phi Leh, where you can see swallow nests, picturesque views, and rock paintings. Within Phi Phi Don, there are several viewpoints accessible via mountain trails. These hikes require some physical fitness, but the reward is stunning views of the archipelago and the Andaman Sea.
