Ski Bulgaria

Ski Bulgaria offers European resorts with affordable prices, significantly lower than similar resorts in Switzerland or Austria. Here, skiers can enjoy a variety of activities and fresh mountain air.

When considering the Rila-Rhodope Mountains, the word “most” can be used to describe this part. Rila is the highest mountain range in Bulgaria and is home to the country’s oldest ski resort, Borovets. It is also home to world-famous attractions, including the Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Borovets is one of the most popular ski resorts in Bulgaria, ranking among the top three, along with Bansko and Pamporovo. It attracts snowboarding enthusiasts and skiing newcomers alike. The average temperature in January is around -5°C, and the snow depth in December reaches one and a half meters.

The Rhodope Mountains are, above all, a mountain range with a rich history. They stretch across much of Bulgaria and even into Greece, dividing into the Western and Eastern Rhodopes in Bulgaria. These mountains boast beautiful scenery, protected by 17 local nature reserves, as well as abundant natural resources, including mountain lakes, rivers, caves, and mineral springs.

The Rhodopes are also home to the Pamporovo ski resort, the second largest in Bulgaria after Borovets. Close to the city of Plovdiv, this resort is renowned for its many sunny days per year. Pamporovo attracts both skiers and snowboarders; the ski season here begins in December, with average winter temperatures around -3°C.

The Pirin Mountains, the second highest after Rila, offer a rich selection of natural attractions, including over 180 mountain lakes, around 70 hot mineral springs, and the Pirin National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The popular ski resort of Bansko is also located here, offering a long ski season, lasting from December to mid-April.
