Skiing in China

Until recently, Chinese ski resorts were relatively unpopular and saw little development. However, in recent years, with active government support, the quality of local ski resorts has rapidly improved, and the demand for ski tours to China has increased significantly.

Wanlun and Tian Shan
Since China has vast mountainous regions, ski resorts are spread across the country. One of the first resorts to experience winter is Wanlun, located in the northern province of Hebei, just 249 kilometers from Beijing. Athletes begin arriving here as early as September to practice their favorite sports. If snowfall is insufficient, snow cannons installed along the ski slopes come to the rescue.

The mountain resorts in the Tian Shan mountain range also offer excellent recreational conditions. A large tourist center with a variety of hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops is located here. Ski resorts in this region are accessible to tourists of all budgets, ranging from budget options to luxury resorts, such as the popular Pingtian Resort.

Chengbai and Alshan
The popular Chengbai ski resort is known not only for its modern infrastructure and excellent training conditions, but also for its natural surroundings. Situated in a picturesque nature reserve, the ski slopes wind through enchanting landscapes.

Another excellent resort for skiing and sports activities is Alshan, which is divided into two zones. One is designed for professional athletes and training camps, while the other offers trails for amateurs. Alshan also boasts excellent cross-country skiing trails, making it a great place for relaxation and training in the mountains.

Yabuli
China’s largest ski resort, Yabuli, attracts tourists with its varied terrain and slopes of varying difficulty. Here, guests can enjoy a variety of routes, as well as jumps and freestyle areas. The landscapes in this area are magnificent, and historically, Chinese emperors loved to hunt here. In 1993, Yabuli was designated a national park.

The Yabuli ski resort offers approximately 20 trails and 17 lifts. Off-piste and extreme snowboarding are permitted, and there is a school for beginners. Dozens of hotels, inns, and hostels are available for accommodation.
