The Estonian resort of Laulasmaa

Translated from Estonian, Laulasmaa means “singing land.” This stunning place is located just 35 km from the capital and is renowned for its romantic landscapes. The resort gets its name from the “singing” sand dunes, which are its main feature.

The main attractions of this place are the beautiful scenery and other rural delights, such as a quiet and peaceful life and mushroom and berry picking in the forest. Furthermore, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Estonia, Treppoja, is located near the resort.

In winter, it is primarily a vacation spot for older people, spending time in local sanatoriums, while in summer, young people come to surf and kayak. Laulasmaa is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Entertainment and Attractions in Laulasmaa
One of the most remarkable natural features in Estonia is the 150-meter-long Treppoja Cascade. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Estonia, located next to the Tallinn-Paldiski highway, near the Treppoja bus stop.

The village of Keila-Joa, 6 kilometers from Laulasmaa, has a local hydroelectric power station that has been generating electricity since 1928. The area also boasts a waterfall and cape, as well as a scenic hiking trail that winds through the local park.

The Keila Waterfall is located on the Keila River and reaches a height of 6 meters, making it the third most powerful waterfall in Estonia after the Narva and Jägala waterfalls. Two suspension bridges run along the riverbed, and newlyweds traditionally come to the waterfall to hang a padlock with their names on the suspension bridge and throw the key into the river.

A 3-kilometer hiking trail runs through the Keila-Joa Park, stretching along the banks of the Keila River. At the beginning of the trail, an information board is installed for tourists, indicating the main attractions of the park, their descriptions, and a route map.
