The Slovakian Spa Resort of Piestany

Piešťany is one of the most famous spas in Slovakia, located just 80 km from the capital. This resort is renowned not only for the quality of its thermal waters but also for its stunning natural beauty: it is located in the Váh River valley at an altitude of 160 meters above sea level.

Treatment in Piestany
Piešťany boasts ten springs of therapeutic hot water, which are moderately mineralized and contain sulfates, carbonates, calcium, sodium, and sulfur. The water temperature ranges from 67 to 69 degrees Celsius, and the springs themselves are located at a depth of 2,000 meters. One of the most valuable therapeutic properties offered by Piestany is its sulfur-containing mud, considered one of the best in the world. It is formed from sediments of the Váh River, which formed at the outlets of the thermal springs.

The mud is extracted and processed throughout the year, allowing it to mature under the influence of the mineral water in special reservoirs. The resulting mud takes on a sticky, paste-like consistency and a steel-gray color with a blue tint, sometimes even black. It retains heat for a long time and has regenerative properties, particularly for the treatment of rheumatism and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Piešťany offers a variety of treatments, including thermal and mud baths, sulfur mud compresses, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, various massages, acupuncture, electrotherapy, mechanotherapy, gas injections, manual therapy, and more.
