Gstaad is located at the junction of four mountain slopes, making it renowned for its comfortable, interesting, and enjoyable skiing. The entire resort is comprised of six regions connected by a single ski pass, including the only glacier in the Bernese Oberland, the Glacier, which guarantees excellent skiing even in snowless winters.
It is a favorite vacation spot for the wealthy. It is not exactly popular—it is more of an elite destination, still outwardly reminiscent of a mountain village with chalets built at the beginning of the century. This image is further enhanced by the fact that cars are prohibited at the resort. The local five-star hotels are among the best in the world.
