Capri Attractions
Everyone has their own itinerary for the island of Capri. Some prefer active travel or bus tours, while others prefer leisurely strolls through the narrow streets, eager to see all the main sights. But everyone begins their journey with a visit to Mount Solaro. It can be reached by cable car from Marina Grande. This experience is unmissable, as the views from Mount Solaro are simply breathtaking.
From the viewpoint, you can travel to the town of Anacapri, the Faraglioni rocks, or the city of Capri. A trip to Anacapri offers a visit to the historic center, where you can visit the Church of Santa Sofia with its 18th-century bell tower and the Church of San Michele, whose floor depicts the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise.
The path to the Faraglioni rocks from Mount Solaro is further, but along the way you can visit the lush Gardens of Augustus. Here, among the greenery and flowers, you can find the 14th-century monastery of San Giacomo, which houses a collection of paintings by Karl Diefenbach.
The best way to enjoy the Faraglioni rocks is from up close; you can rent a boat in Marina Piccola Bay. From the boat, you can conveniently head to the southeastern part of the island, to Villa Malaparte, which was featured in the film starring Brigitte Bardot.
Continuing the trip around the eastern part of the island by boat, you can reach the ruins of Villa Jovis, one of the residences of Emperor Tiberius. From here, you can walk to the main square of Capri, the Piazzetta, in 45 minutes.
Tourists from Piazzetta take the funicular to Marina Grande, and from there, a rented boat takes them to Capri’s most famous treasure, the Blue Grotto, also known as the Azure Grotto. The water within it has an incredible neon blue hue.
