Cortina d’Ampezzo Ski Resort is one of the most famous winter resorts in Italy, a former Winter Olympics host city. This fairytale alpine village is nestled in a natural basin, sheltered from the winds and bathed in sunshine, framed by the magnificent peaks of the Dolomites. Situated at an altitude of 1,224 meters, the resort is one of the best ski areas in the world.
Cortina d’Ampezzo can safely be called the sunny valley of the Dolomites, with at least seven hours of sunshine per day. The Cortina d’Ampezzo ski resort boasts over seventy hotels, and numerous snow cannons maintain the snow cover in perfect condition. The resort boasts 140 km of pistes, located at altitudes ranging from 1,224 to 3,000 meters above sea level. The resort’s pistes are part of a single ski pass that connects 12 resorts in the Dolomites. Cortina d’Ampezzo offers skiers six cable cars, 27 chairlifts, and 20 T-bar lifts.
Holidays in Cortina d’Ampezzo are very popular among tourists from the CIS countries. The resort’s pistes are well suited for intermediate skiers, but there are also several sections that will thrill even the most experienced.
Intermediate skiers should explore the slopes of the Tofana summit, where the runs are relatively short and the snow is always good. The slopes of Mount Pomedes are also worth exploring. If you’re not a fan of skiing, the resort offers cross-country ski trails, an ice palace with a large skating rink, bobsled tracks, and ski jumps.
