Vouliagmeni – one of the best resorts in Greece

Vouliagmeni is a resort area in the suburbs of Athens, located just 25 km from the center of the Greek capital. The sea air, combined with the scent of Mediterranean pine and eucalyptus, creates a healing microclimate.

Vouliagmeni Beaches
All the beaches in Vouliagmeni are sandy. Most are paid, as they belong to hotels. A day’s admission costs around 8 EUR. There are also free beaches along the coast. The sea there is just as clean, but the beach area itself may be less well-maintained.

Wealthy tourists prefer the beaches of Kavouri, Asteria Volimenis, and Attiki Akti, where admission costs 30 EUR on weekends.

The price of a beach directly depends on the list of additional services provided by the nearby hotel: cafes, restaurants, swimming pools, spas, etc. Most of the resort’s beaches offer a wealth of opportunities for active recreation, including windsurfing, diving, and other water sports. The most remote beach in

Vouliagmeni is home to the most luxurious and expensive yacht marina in all of Greece.

Activities and Attractions in Vouliagmeni
One of the most popular attractions in Vouliagmeni is the lake of the same name, which features thermal springs. The lake is surrounded by yellow cliffs covered in pine forest. A six-meter-long channel connects the lake to the bay, causing the water to be salty. Even in winter, the water in Vouliagmeni never drops below 20°C.

Swimming in the lake is beneficial, as are walks in the area, which can be combined with visits to attractions such as the ancient stone lighthouse, stalagmite caves, and the active monastery of Agios Potapios.

The Temple of Hera is located 3 km from Vouliagmeni on Cape Melengavi. The main complex of buildings is destroyed, but the foundation and fragments of columns, the altar and the classical gallery remain.
